Directions to Rainshadow:
(don't attempt this first time unless it is daylight)

From Fort Collins, drive north on Hwy. 287 as if you're going to Laramie. About 20 miles north of town at the Forks turn left onto the Red Feather Lakes Road and check your odometer. At the 10 mile marker you will be climbing a steep hill that ends in a rock cut. Turn left at the top of the hill(next to a rock-mining site) on to Deer Meadow Way. The road will soon fork; take the left fork onto the Hewlett Gulch Road. After some 2.5 miles from the pavement you will go down some switchbacks into a low spot. Take a left turn on to Rainbow's End which is a two-track bumpity road going uphill. Meander to the top of the hill and you will see my shack and windmill on your right.

What to Bring:
Bring towel, sandals,  water jug, light robe or sarong. Bring some light snacks or juices and a side dish to share. If you like, bring something to put on the BBQ. (I recommend eating lightly before sauna or soak). Bring a musical instrument or drum. These are clothing-optional events, so bring a swimsuit if you prefer. Please keep in mind that facilities for cooking and washing are limited.

It is a primitive kind of place, but the views are fantastic and there are often eagles and hawks to watch and coyotes to serenade us at night.

Hope to see you there!

Blessings,

Stephen
